Keeping an eye on the process…
Our factory automation and process control systems generally incorporate operator interfaces,
from single graphics based screen's, to redundant servers running factory wide suites of screens
spanning multiple control rooms. We have applied multi-node networked visualization systems
providing information for use by MES and ERP schemes. These
required efficient database creation, data manipulation and management to
optimise production yields and volume.
Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA)
The application of solutions involving a SCADA system and PLC or PCS
technologies from a single automation supplier, or the provision of a
disparate controller and SCADA system from a specialist SCADA software
developer.
Human Machine Interfaces (HMI)
Graphics based or pushbutton and lamp type, operator control panels.
Suitable for installation in designated safe areas or certified hazardous areas
with appropriate ATEX certification.
Alarm annunciator panels for safe areas or certified hazardous areas. |

Alarm Management & handling
With many of our systems managing safety critical plant, we understand the
consequences of a failure and the alarm(s) that result. We ensure our
information systems provide concise and unambiguous alarm information to
site personnel, so they can facilitate appropriate action.
We appreciate that a single failure can give rise to numerous alarms, and
that the careful prioritisation of alarm signals must be undertaken to
avoid so called "floods" of alarm signals. Such "floods" can easily
distract or swamp site personnel, resulting in them missing "critical"
signals, or acting upon less important information.
Integrating control systems in accordance with IEC61508/IEC61511 has lead
us to appreciate the human factor aspects, which form the part of any
control system. Accordingly, for each project we ensure the handling and
presentation of data is carefully assessed to ensure adherence to EEMUA
191 (Alarm Systems, A Guide to Design, Management and Procurement).
