Challenging environments
Charter Tech personnel are fully conversant with the strict requirements governing designated hazardous areas and the tough environmental conditions experienced in coastal and desert locations, where petrochemical complexes are typically found. We employ a variety of methods to ensure that plant & personnel safety or operation is never compromised.

Process heaters & boilers
Within petrochemical complexes our systems are involved with the "cracking" of hydrocarbon feedstock to derive different olefin compounds and the provision of high-pressure steam. Each of these applications are regarded as critical plant and demand continuous operation, their failure would shut down multiple revenue generating downstream processes.

Other systems manage the extraction of revenue generating products from streams that were originally regarded as waste.

Remote information transfer
We can provide bespoke networks of controllers and data acquisition systems to collate, pre-process and format data prior to communicating the results over a serial link to a site wide DCS.

Trip systems & Emergency Shutdown (ESD) systems
When process parameters are exceeded it is imperative that consequential actions instigated by the process control system and Safety Instrumented System(s) put the process into a safe state. Ensuring that no harm to people arises from such instances is of utmost importance. Equally, careful consideration must also be given to the asset, such that any sequential shutdown should avoid damage to the installation or environment.

IEC 61508 and IEC 61511
Having undertaken projects across the globe, we have a proven ability to interpret and meet the demands of the various derivatives and standards relating to functional safety. Multi national operators are able to benefit from our working experience of the North American, European and Norwegian standards.
